Director of Information Technology Lawrence R. Salay achieved his Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from Central Connecticut State University this month.   Considered the most important industry-recognized certification for project managers, it is granted through the Project Management Institute (PMI).

Last October, at the Dell Technologies Forum in New York City, Salay attended several sessions about the public sector and higher education. One session, “Transforming the Future of Higher Education,” detailed the possibilities for aiding higher education to transform processes and systems to increase student success.

During the session, Salay was invited to discuss some of GCC’s fall semester initiatives. He spoke about the Gateway to College program, explaining how classrooms were refitted and laptops distributed to students. Salay noted that early results about student performance were very positive. He shared that students in the program were enthusiastic about receiving new equipment and faculty and administrators were optimistic about student performance and outcomes of the initiative.
