GCC Celebrated National Poetry Month With Open Mic Event

Share

April was National Poetry Month; GCC Humanities faculty celebrated by hosting a Poetry Reading and Open Mic on April 16 in the college’s Café Vincenzo (S102). The Academy of American Poets established National Poetry Month in 1996 as a time when publishers, libraries, booksellers, poets and schools throughout the United States celebrate poetry and its vital place in American culture. Nationwide, thousands of organizations hold readings, festivals, book displays, workshops, and other events to raise awareness and enjoy the ageless art of poetry.

This event was free and members of the public were invited to join GCC faculty, staff and students, and to bring their own favorite poems to share. Refreshments were served.
