CT Public and GCC Host Public Celebration of Partnership

On Wednesday, Feb. 14, Connecticut Public and Gateway Community College (GCC) hosted a public celebration of the partnership that brought a new Connecticut Public Radio (WNPR) studio to the GCC campus in New Haven. The partnership, which was announced at a press conference last June 19, will also provide program and internship opportunities for GCC students through Connecticut Public’s Institute for Advanced Media (IAM). 

The day long Love is On the Air celebration began at 9:00 a.m. and included:

9:00am - 10:00am Meet & Greet with Morning Edition host Diane Orson and Team (N100A)
9:00am - 10:00am Live radio broadcast with audience for The Wheelhouse Politics Roundtable with Colin McEnroe and John Dankosky (N100B)
9:30am - 1:30pm GCC Student-led Tours of College and Newsroom every half hour
10:00am - 10:30am Press Conference
10:30am - 11:00am Meet & Greet with Where We Live host Lucy Nalpathanchil and Team (N100A)
11:00am - 11:30am Faith Middleton Food Schmooze Meet & Greet with Faith Middleton (N100A)
1:00pm - 2:00pm Live radio broadcast with audience - The Colin McEnroe Shoe - The Nose (N100B)
2:00pm - 2:30pm Meet & Greet with Colin McEnroe, John Dankosky and their Teams
2:30pm- 3:30pm Discussion and Taping - NEXT/New England News Collaborative with John Dankosky - “The Island Next Door – Puerto Rico after Maria” (N100B)

WNPR is a one of more than 900 radio stations under the National Public Radio media organization that is privately owned and publicly funded. WNPR is owned by Connecticut Public and has been in the airwaves of Connecticut, Western Massachusetts and Eastern Long Island since 1978. 

All activities for the Love is On the Air celebration were open to the public, students and guests.
