GCC, SCSU and WCSU Host Poverty Simulation

Share

A poverty simulation showing participants role playing the lives of low-income families will take place from 9:00 a.m.  to 12:00 p.m. on Thursday April 11 in room N100, the Curran Community Center at Gateway Community College (GCC).

Hosted by GCC, Southern Connecticut State University and Western Connecticut State University, the simulation will examine how families can provide food, shelter and other basic necessities while interacting with various community resources staffed by low-income provider volunteers. The simulation will provide insight into the real lives of single parents trying to care for their children, as well as senior citizens attempting to live on Social Security. The realities of living in poverty will be explored during the event.

GCC is located at 20 Church Street, New Haven. Validated parking is available for visitors in the Temple Street Garage.
