Senator Murphy Discusses Climate Change at GCC

U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) visited Gateway Community College (GCC) on September 10, 2021 to discuss the pressing issues of climate change. Alongside Senator Murphy was a panelist of local and state leaders who  fielded questions from students in the New Haven community.

Panelists included:

  • U.S. Senator Chris Murphy
  • New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker
  • Dr. Terry Brown, Gateway Community College CEO
  • Katie Dykes, CT DEEP Commissioner
  • State Senator Christine Cohen
  • State Representative Dorinda Borer

Students from Quinnipiac University, Yale University, University of New Haven, Gateway Community College, and Southern Connecticut State University all expressed concern over the severity of climate change and how action needs to be taken now.

Throughout the conversation, Senator Chris Murphy highlighted the climate goals laid out in President Biden’s Build Back Better plan.
