The Conn. Health I-Team (c-hit.org), a news health and safety website, hosted a high school journalism camp at Yale  University and Gateway Community College, the week of July 9.  Twenty high school students from Connecticut, Virginia, New York and Paraguay participated.  Topics discussed included: what makes a good news story, how to use social media effectively in reporting, multimedia reporting, perfecting your writing style and using public data in investigative reporting. During the week, each workshop participant researches and writes a data-driven story for publication. The students dig into their chosen topics for four days, conducting interviews and navigating data in a newsroom-like setting.  The students’ work is published on c-hit.org.
