GCC Nuclear Medicine Technology students Kerrianne Kraft, Deanna Katz and Mark Hales participated in the Board Review Student Program and Scientific Paper and Poster Presentations during the 46th Annual Spring Symposium of the New England Chapter Technologist Section of the Society of Nuclear Medicine & Molecular Imaging. The symposium was held March 27 and 28, 2015, in Peabody, Mass. Kraft, a Beacon Falls resident, presented “The future of brain and neuroendocrine tumor imaging." Katz, a resident of North Haven, presented “The value of F-18 FDG and Tl-201 in myocardial viability imaging." Hales, an East Haven resident, presented “Techniques for reducing radiation exposure to the patient in PET/CT while maintaining sufficient image quality."

Nuclear Medicine combines chemistry, physics, mathematics, computer technology, and medicine in using the radionuclides to diagnose and treatment of the disease. Students’ posters were on display outside the elevators on the second floor of the south building until the end of May.
