William T. Brown, PhD, Appointed CEO OF Gateway Community College

The Connecticut Board of Regents for Higher Education announced the appointment of Dr. Brown to the position of Chief Executive Officer of Gateway Community College during the open session of the May 14 meeting, which was held virtually and attended by over 320 faculty, staff and students from the 12 Connecticut Community Colleges.
Dr. Brown’s duties as CEO include serving as the lead campus administrator and on-site operational leader, providing guidance on development and implementation of strategic plans along with budgetary, enrollment, academic, and related matters.
Social Media Manager and GCC Student Makes Career Out of Making Connections
There are about 7.8 billion people on the planet and at the rate she’s going, Julia Seraphine will be in electronic contact with most of them in about 10 years. Seraphine, 21, graduated magna cum laude from Gateway in May 2019. With an associate’s degree in Liberal Arts and certificates in Fashion Retail Management and Entrepreneurial Studies, she is currently in the process of applying for a transfer to Yale University, which she hopes to attend in the fall as a junior majoring in Sociology and Psychology. GCC Veterans Club Donates Almost 600 Mugs to Homes for the Brave Homeless Veterans
Gateway’s Veterans Club collected an initial 400 mugs this past spring and into the fall for Homes for the Brave, a transitional program for homeless veterans. Since then the mugs kept coming in, as recent as this December when FEC, Consultant kept giving and a Child Development teacher Linda Alston from GCC’s Early Learning Center donated another 50 mugs. GGC Professor Anne Williams Knits More Than 100 Hats for Homeless
For GCC business professor, Anne Williams, a stitch in time saves nine...well, more like 130. Dr. Williams carries on a family tradition during the holiday season of hand-knitting hats for the homeless in New Haven. It’s a much-needed effort. According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), in 2018 there were close to 4,000 homeless people living in the state. “I made about 130 [hats] this year, and I make them in different sizes, some small for children,” Williams said. Gateway Community College Ranks in Top 10 Computer Training Schools in Connecticut
Gateway Community College (GCC) was ranked in the top 10 computer science and information technology schools in the state by a leading resource for students and prospective students seeking entry into the field of IT, computer science, and technology. The report, released last week by ComputerTrainingSchools.com, shows GCC ranked ninth on a list of Best Computer Science and IT Colleges in Connecticut.
